Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has so far failed to take action on its female secretary who allegedly walked into national player Kithruwan Vithanage’s hotel room during the first test match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Galle.

When contacted by a reporter of Asian Mirror, a spokesman of Sri Lanka Cricket who wished to remain anonymous said the SLC was not in a position to take action in this regard without observing CCTV footage of the incident.

It is reported that there is a delay in obtaining CCTV footage from the hotel with regard to the incident.

The incident, according to the SLC spokesman, amounts to a breach of code of conduct for national players playing for Sri Lanka. During international cricket tournaments players are prohibited from accommodating outsiders in their hotel rooms.

“The ban is aimed at avoiding outside influence on the game such as match-fixing and spot-fixing. That why national players playing for Sri Lanka are expected to Sri Lanka are expected to stick to the code of conduct,” the spokesman added.

It is learnt that senior players of the team are of the view that there should be an independent inquiry into the controversy to avoid such incidents in the future.

It has now been confirmed that the female Secretary had no official duties pertaining to the first test match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Galle. 

The secretary is known to be an acquaintance of Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage. She had been appointed as a Secretary of the Sri Lanka Cricket sue to the influence of the Sports Minister.

So far, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has not issued a statement in this regard.
