The UPFA and the Joint Opposition have formed a committee to finalize arrangements on forming a government together. 

The committee comprises of UPFA MP, JO stalwart Dinesh Gunawardena and UPFA National Organizer Susil Premajayantha. 

The Joint Opposition has pledged support to form a UPFA government, without accepting ministerial process. 

However, the notable absentee in process is SLFP General Secretary Duminda Dissanayake. 

It is learnt that Dissanayake is averse to the idea of forming a coalition with the Joint Opposition whose de facto leader is former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. 

Speculation is rife that Dissanayake may step down from his position as the party General Secretary, if the current mission continues.
