President Maithripala Sirisena has suddenly cancelled his special statement to media scheduled for tomorrow morning (16).
The President was expected make this statement in the presence of media heads and newspaper editors.
Sources close to the President previously said he would make his position clear on the future of the government, in his statement.
The reason for the sudden cancellation, however, is not yet known.
As of this evening, both the President and the Prime Minister had agreed to continue with the current unity government, with a Cabinet reshuffle.
It is still not clear whether this agreement has suddenly changed due to some unexpected development.
This also suggests that the sense of uncertainty, which has already engulfed the Sri Lankan political sphere, will continue.
