Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe held a crucial meeting with his parliamentary group, at Temple Trees, this morning.
The meeting came as the UPFA has started negotiations with Mps representing many political parties in Parliament to seek majority support to make Nimal Siripala de Silva the Prime Minister.
They have also conducted talks with former Minister Basil Rajapaksa, an influential figure in the Joint Opposition.'
At today's meeting, however, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe informed the party members that the UNP would continue in the unity government.
However, the Prime Minister indicated that there would be a change in the Cabinet and strategies adopted by the government.
It indicated the idea to the Parliamentary group members that the President and the Prime Minister have arrived at an agreement of some sort on the continuation of the unity government.
