President Maithripala Sirisena said his journey to take the country forward with a clean political movement will start on February 10.
Addressing an election meeting in Maharagama, the President said, the bastion of robbers, which came as a new party before the Local Government election, will fall on the same day.
Sirisena said the country's journey towards progress should be led by clean politicians and not by robber barons.
The President, referring to a statement made by the former President to a TV channel claiming that he used the executive powers to acquire the SLFP Chairmanship, said that the former President invited him to the then Speaker’s residence and handed over the SLFP Chairmanship to him, in the presence of other SLFP MPs.
‘Therefore, I am sad he is making such statements now,’ the President said.
