The UNP committee appointed to look into the Bond Commission report has recommended that UNP Assistant Leader Ravi Karunanayake should step down from all his positions in the party until the investigations are concluded.
The committee was headed by Tilak Marapana, Karunanayake's successor as the Foreign Minister.
The Committee has recommended that Karunanayake must stay away from activities of the party until the action initiated by the Attorney General's Department or the Bribery Commission is concluded.
However, Asian Mirror learns that Karunanayake has refused to step down from the post of Assistant Leader of the UNP.
He had told his close associates that he had no reason to step down as he had not committed any wrongdoing.
