Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has suggested that MP Ravi Karunanayake step down from his post as assistant leader of the United National Party (UNP).
The Prime Minister had said it would be ‘proper’ for the former Finance Minister to step down from his role as assistant party leader.
The Prime Minister had made this announcement at a meeting with leaders of political parties aligned with the UNP.
It was also revealed that UNP appointed committee – headed by Tilak Marapana – to look into UNP complicity in the bond scandal – had made the same suggestion.
The committee was appointed to look into UNP complicity in the bond scandal and advise the UNP leadership of what action should be taken against those involved.
