President Maithripala Sirisena alleged that both the United National Party and the Joint Opposition hatched a conspiracy to delay the debate on the Presidential Commission reports on the Treasury bonds issue and 17 cases of corruption.
'They met at a house in Borella. They conspired to delay the debates on the reports until the end of the elections," Sirisena said, addressing an election rally in Colombo.
He also challenged leaders of all political parties for a debate with him on corruption.
"All these parties are corrupt to the core,' the President said, referring to the UNP and the Joint Opposition as the "alliance of corrupt elitists."
"Had they taken the debate before the LG polls, their pants would have come off ," Sirisena added.
