President Mahinda Rajapaksa has proposed two key agendas to the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to be taken up to the upcoming summit.
The proposed agendas are “better regional connectivity and career opportunities for youths “ which he has requested to be taken up by the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) in its upcoming 18th summit meeting to be held in Nepal in November this year.
In a meeting with SAARC Secretary General Arjun Bahadur Thapa in President's office yesterday, President Rajapaksa has said that SAARC needed to grant special priority in enhancing inter-state connectivity and creating better career opportunities for youths in South Asia,
A statement issued by the SAARC Secretariat in Kathmandu stated that SAARC needed better connectivity in the region and it is highly necessary to connect all religious and cultural centres in South Asia.
The 18th SAARC summit meeting has been scheduled for Nov 22-27 in Kathmandu.
The 18th SAARC summit meeting is expected to be attended by heads of state and governments from South Asian countries.
