UNP Parliamentarian S.M. Marikkar yesterday described President Maithripala Sirisena as a 'pick-pocket President."
Addressing a UNP election meeting, Marikkar said the President had referred to UNPers as men who picked pockets. "But he had forgotten that the UNPers were the ones who campaigned for him and made him the President. We pick-pocketed him from the Rajapaksa administration. So, in that sense, he is a pick-pocket President," Marikkar said.
He added that President Sirisena had now forgotten the past.
The UNP Parliamentarian also criticized the President for trying to back-stab the UNP and its supporters.
Marikkar also quipped that the President switched sides after partaking a hopper meal with former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and was trying to do the same with the UNP.
