A graveside vigil attended by a small gathering was held at the Borella cemetery this morning in memory of Lasantha Wickrematunga whose 9th death anniversary falls on today. 

Wickrematunga was assassinated by an armed group on his way to work on January 09, 2009. Although President Maithripala Sirisena promised to bring the culprits to book, the investigations have been stalled due to mysterious reasons. 

Among those present were family members and former colleagues of the slain editor who headed the Sunday Leader newspaper for nearly 15 years. 

Former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake and Lake House Chairman Krishantha Cooray were also seen among the participants.
