Law and Order Minister Sagala Ratnayaka said the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) has been directed to inquire into the incident involving JVP Provincial Councillor Asoka Ranwalage at the Sapugaskanda Police station, last night. 

Issuing a statement , Minister Ratnayaka said the inquiry will be a comprehensive one and further action will be taken based on its report. 

The preliminary report, the Minister said, would be submitted by 11 am tomorrow. 

The JVP Provincial Councillor has now been remanded for obstructing the duties of Police officer. He was arrested following a brawl with the Acting OIC of the Sapugaskanda Police station.
