The Colombo Fort Magistrate today issued an open warrant to arrest former Sri Lankan Ambassador to US Jaliya Wickremasuriya. 

Wickremasuriya, a businessman by profession, is also a close relative of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. 

Wickremasuriya has been issued an open warrant for failing to appear before court after since November, last year. 

He was once arrested by the Police Financial Crimes investigations Division (FCID) over an alleged financial misappropriation during his tenure as the Sri Lankan Ambassador to the US.
