The Prime Minister's Office issuing a statement said President Maithripala Sirisena's address to the media had reiterated the Prime Minister's position on the bond fiasco.
It said the Prime Minister also instructed the Attorney General's Department to look into the bond issue after the COPE submitted its report on the bond issue in 2016.
The Prime Minister's Office expressed confidence that the AG's Department would take appropriate action in this regard.
It also stated that the government would look into the bond transactions from 2008 to 2005 and take stern action against wrongdoers .
The statement went on to add that the findings of the Bond Commission's report showed that the idea of good governance had become a reality under the current administration.
