The Elections Commission today ruled that no political party could use the images of leaders of other political parties for election propaganda.
This decision comes in the wake of remarks by certain SLFP leaders that their candidates can use pictures of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Addressing a press conference recently, Western Province Chief Minister Isura Devapriya urged the UPFA candidates to use the pictures of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa as he was still a member of the SLFP.
Following this remark, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna requested the Elections Authorities to prevent candidates of other parties from using Rajapaksa's pictures.
