Asian Mirror is now in  a position to reveal that the United People's Freedom Alliance, led by President Maithripala Sirisena, has given nominations to the wife of Saruwa Liyanage Sunil, former Chairman of the Akuressa Pradeshiya Sabha. 

The former Chairman commonly known as 'Saruwa Sunil' came under allegations for hosting a party to celebrate raping of 100 virgins. 

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa came under heavy criticism for not taking action against Sunil and it made a serious negative impact on his election campaign in January, 2015. 

The UPFA's decision to give nominations to Sunil's wife indicates that the former Chairman of the Akuressa Pradeshiya Sabha is now a supporter of President Sirisena. 

Party sources said Sunil would lead the election campaign of his wife.

Sunil received the highest number of preferential votes from Akuressa at the last Local Government election and became the Chairman of the Pradeshiya Sabha.
