Former Parliamentarian Rosy Senanayake is tipped to be the UNP's mayoral candidate for Colombo, party sources said. 

Currently, Senanayake is the Deputy Chief of Staff of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinge. 

Although Senanayake contested the last Parliamentary election on the UNP ticket, she failed to secure a seat in the House. 

Political sources said Senanayake, if elected, would be Colombo's first female mayor. 

Informed party sources added that Prime Minister Wickrmesinghe had expressed willingness to field Senanayake as the party's mayoral candidate for Colombo.
