Siddi Mohammed Farook has been appointed the new Chairman of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. 

Farook has received his letter of appointment from Finance and Media Minister Mangala Samaraweera last afternoon. 

He replaces Sudarshana Gunawardena who currently functions as the Director General of Government Information. 

Farook is an old boy of Royal College, Colombo.
