Joint Opposition Parliamentarian Sriyani Wijewickrama has joined the Sri Lanka Freedom Party group supporting President Maithripala Sirisena. 

Wijewickreama got elected to Parliament on the UPFA ticket representing the Digamadulla district. 

Sources close to the President said Wijewickrama will support the SLFP at the forthcoming Local Government elections. 

They also added that a few other MPs were also holding discussions with the group supporting President Sirisena to switch allegiance. 

Last week, former Parliamentarian Jayantha Wijesekera, a Joint Opposition stalwart in the Trincomalee district, joined the SLFP.
