Law and Order Minister Sagala Ratnayaka assured that the Criminal investigations Department's investigation into the killing of the tusker called 'Dala Puttuwa' would proceed without a problem.
The Minister's assurance came amid rumours that the investigations have been halted as a name of a Deputy Minister has come out in connection with the crime.
"The Criminal Investigations Department's (CID) investigation into the killing of famous Galgamuwa tusker, Dala Puttuwa, is underway. The initial investigation, carried out by the local Police authorities, is also in progress. We are committed to ensure that everyone responsible for this heinous crime is brought to book. No one will be allowed to escape the Police net," the Minister said, in a post shared on his official social media profiles.
It is learnt that under the Minister's instructions, Acting IGP C.D. Wickremaratne has personally informed the CID to carry out the investigation efficiently and bring the culprits to book.
The CID investigation will ascertain where there is a larger organised criminal network behind the killing of tuskers in Sri Lanka.
