Several Tamil parties are likely to form a new political alliance against the Tamil national Alliance at the forthcoming Local Government elections, informed political sources said. 

Under the new plan, the EPRLF, led by former Parliamentarian Suresh Premachandran, TULF led by V. Anandasangaree and All Ceylon Tamil Congress led by Gajendra kumar Ponnambalam are likely to form an alliance. 

Premachandran made a public statement previously announcing his party would severe ties with the TNA at the LG elections. 

Addressing a press conference in Jaffna yesterday, Premachandra stressed the need for a new political front against the TNA.

He said the public in the North was dissatisfied and disappointed with the conduct of the TNA.
