Law and Order Ministry said leave of all Police officers has been cancelled due to the prevailing inclement weather condition. 

In a statement last evening, Law and Order Minister Sagala Ratnayaka said the Police continued to be on stand-by mode to assist the public    

Special operations, he said, are underway to protect the properties of victims in affected areas from burglars. 

The Minister said, at a special meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in Parliament last evening, the current situation was widely discussed with all relevant state officials. 

The President has also instructed the officials to draw the assistance of tri-forces to provide quick relief to victims.
