In a surprising turn of events, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has decided to appoint Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera as the new captain of the Sri Lankan ODI and T20 teams.
Thisara Perera whose place in the side is unstable led the Sri Lankan team during the three match T20 series against Pakistan.
The official announcement in this regard is to be released this evening, SLC sources said.
He replaces Upul Tharanga who failed to guide the Sri Lankan team towards victory in 12 matches. He lost ODI tournaments to India and Pakistan without a single victory.
Perera has scored 1441 runs and got 133 wickets in 125 ODI matches.
