Former ICTA Chairman Muhunthan Canagey has asked if there will be a Commission to investigate the spectrum fraud worth a minimum as Rs. 3 Billion as high as Rs. 10 billion issued to a private TV channel by an institution under President Maithripala Sirisena.

"Will there be a Commission to investigate the spectrum fraud worth a minimum as Rs. 3 Billion as high as Rs. 10 billion issued to Maharaja’s by an institution under the President?"Canagey asked, on his official Facebook page. 

It was clear that the former ICTA Chairman's question was directed at President Maithripala Sirisena. 

Canagey was forced to resign from his position, a few months ago, following a public criticism of the spectrum controversy. 

The former Chairman alleged that the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka which is directly under President Maithripala Sirisena had given a block of 700MegaHertz spectrum to the Colombo-based media network, causing a loss of over three billion to the state.
