Seven suspects who pleaded guilty in the Hirunika Premachandra abduction case were sentenced to two-years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) suspended for 12 years.
Premachandra pleaded not guilty in the case, which alleged she abducted a youth in Dematagoda in December 2015.
The 34-year old man was abducted outside his workplace by a group that arrived in a Land Rover jeep, allegedly owned by Premachandra.
The incident occurred when Premachandra attempted to intervene to end an illicit affair the man – the spouse of an employee – was having with another woman.
