A tense situation erupted at Gintota between a Sinhalese and a Muslim group, Asian Mirror reliably learns. 

The Police sources said some business signages and private properties got damaged as a result of the brawl. 

Law and Order Minister Sagala Ratnayaka has immediately directed to deploy the Police Special Task Force (STF) to control the situation. 

The Police add that the situation has been brought under control by the STF, although there is still some tension in the area. 

Initial investigations revealed that the situation had occurred following a football match.
