The Colombo-Kandy road has been closed in Mawanella due to a protest march by residents against the dilapidated state of the main road.

Residents say the state of the main road has caused them severe inconvenience and allege local authorities have turned a deaf ear to their requests.

They further allege that letters sent to Ministers have also been ignored sparking a protest led by residents.

The residents are asking that immediate remedial measures are taken by authorities to restore the roads.
