The Colombo Magistrates’ Court this afternoon ordered the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) of the Police to proceed with a case filed against former President’s Chief of Staff Gamini Senerath in accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure Act.

Senerath, together with Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Managing Director Piyadasa Kudabalage and former Commissioner of Samurdhi Neil Bandara Hapuwinna are alleged to have misused government funds amounting to Rs. 4 billion.

Gamini Senerath, who together with Piyadasa Kudabalage and Neil Bandara Hapuwinna had filed an FR petition at the Supreme Court seeking to prevent their arrest under the Private Property Act, were brought before the Colombo Fort Magistrate today.
