The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) announced yesterday that calls made with the intention of causing annoyance would be a considered a punishable offense.

It added that sending lewd or indecent messages would also be considered a punishable offence.

These measures have been taken after several complaints were made to the TRC about nuisance calls and receiving lewd messages, it said.
