Eight suspects, with the exclusion of Colombo district MP Hirunika Premachandra have plead guilty to charges they abducted a youth in Dematagoda in 2015. 

The incident in question occurred on December 20, when a youth employed at a drapery was abducted in Defender jeep by six men.

The owners of the drapery store reported the incident to the Police and police investigations established that the vehicle belonged to Premachandra.

The youth who was abducted later said he had been assaulted by the men and threatened by MP Premachandra over an illicit affair he was having with the wife of one of her supporters.
