President Maithripala Sirisena instructed to appoint a Committee to take steps for the progress of the cinema and teledrama industry.
has given these instructions during a meeting with the representatives of the Experts Committee on Artistic Affairs, held at the President’s Official Residence, yesterday (01).
This is the third phase of the discussion series to obtain the views of experts in the artistic affairs including literature, stage drama, television drama, cinema and media.
The issues faced by all sectors in the entertainment industries and potential solutions were widely discussed at the meeting.
President Sirisena instructed the Chairman of the National Film Corporation to appoint the Committee to look into future steps that should be taken to develop the industry and Deputy Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna was given the responsibility of appointing a Committee on the teledrama industry.
The committees are expected to meet twice a week.
