President Maithripala Sirisena paid his last respect to late Ven. Meetiyagoda Gunarathana Thera, the Chief Sangha Nayaka of Colombo and Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte.
The President who visited the monastery in Rosmid Place where the Buddhist monk's remains were lying and paid his last respect and offered his condolence to the Buddhist monks.
Gunarathana Thera was a stalwart of the United Bikkhu Front which supported President Sirisena at the last Parliamentary election.
He was known to be a Buddhist monk closely associated with the national politics.
