As the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone lies to the south of Sri Lanka and inter-monsoon conditions have established over the island, there is a high possibility of afternoon thundershowers, the Meteorological Department said.
It said showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of the island after 2.00 p.m., while showers may occur at several places in the Southern and Eastern provinces in the morning too.
Fairly heavy falls of above 75mm can be expected at some places - particularly in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces and in the Mannar district, the Meteorological Department also said.
It said misty conditions could be expected at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces during the morning and warned that there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
