President Maithripala Sirisena, early this morning, left on a two-day official visit of Qatar during which he hopes to sign three important agreements.
The first of the agreements relates to Qatar’s plenteous oil and gas reserves; Sri Lanka hopes to sign an agreement allowing Qatar to support its oil and gas exploration activities in the country.
The second and third agreements relate to cooperation in diplomatic training and research, and in water supply and waste management.
President Sirisena will meet with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and several other high-level dignitaries during his visit.
