State Minister of Defense Ruwan Wijewardene visited the Republic of Korea from 16th to 18th October on the invitation of the Korean Minister of National Defense to participate in the Seoul International Aerospace and Defence Exhibition (Seoul ADEX) 2017.

During the visit, Minister Wijewardene met with his counterpart, the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Korea Song Young-moo on 17th October and discussed issues of mutual interest related to cooperation in the field of defense. 

The Ministers also welcomed the consolidation of bilateral relations in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea in 2017.

State Minister Wijewardene was accompanied on the visit by Air Vice Marshal M.D.A.P. Payoe and staff of the Ministry of Defence.  Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Manisha Gunasekera and staff of the Embassy also participated.
