Government Decides On Rs. 2.5 Million For Damaged Houses: Rs. 100, 000 For Loss of Life

The government has decided to pay a sum of Rs. 2.5 million per damaged house and Rs. 100, 000 per loss of life, Co-Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said.

Addressing a media briefing at the Disaster Management Centre yesterday he said a further Rs. 2 billion had been allocated as compensation for entrepreneurs. 

Statistics from the Disaster Management Centre show that 1, 402 houses were fully damaged by the floods and landslides that have hit Sri Lanka. 

A further 7, 071 houses are partially damaged in the on-going disaster.
