Relief operations are underway with the Sri Lanka Navy, Air Force and Army deploying large numbers of officers to engage in rescue measures.
A reported 500, 000 people have been affected as a result of the rains that have caused heavy flooding and landslides, specifically to the Southwestern regions of Kalutara, Ratnapura, Galle and Matara.
