Party leaders convened an urgent meeting in Parliament today to discuss the current weather conditions. 

The immediate relief measures and ongoing rescue measures were discussed at the meeting. 

The Parliamentary proceedings would be suspended at 2 pm today to allow MPs to handle relief measures in their areas. 

President Maithripala Sirisena, speaking to Sri Lankan authorities from Australia, advised to carry out relief measures without any delay.
