The Police have deployed several teams to arrest Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Galgoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera, who is reportedly currently in hiding.
The move comes after President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe advised Law and Order Minister Sagala Rathnayake to arrest Galgoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera for inciting communal disharmony.
National Co-existence, Dialogue and Official Languages Minister Mano Ganesan had also complained to the President at the Cabinet meeting earlier this week, that Gnanasara Thera had stormed into his ministry and had made several statements damaging to national harmony.
Furthermore, the BBS General Secretary is accused of instigating racial violence in Kurunegala where Police attempted to stop him from spreading communal disharmony.
His firebrand anti-minority rhetoric has seen a spate of attacks against Muslim establishments and places of worship in recent days.
