Mangala Samaraweera assumed duties as the new minister charged with Finance at the Finance Ministry this morning.

Minister Mangala Samaraweera was former Minister of Foreign Affairs but was appointed Minister of Finance in the first Cabinet reshuffle of the national unity government last week.

Minister Mangala Samaraweera was also appointed Minister of Mass Media and will officially begin work at that Ministry soon.

Former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake was appointed Foreign Affairs Minister in place of Mangala Samaraweera.
