A group of senior officials from the Colombo Port City Development project met the transport master plan team of the Western Region Megapolis Project to discuss the ongoing study on Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines and its connectivity to the Port City.
Dr. Dimantha de Silva, team leader of the LRT feasibility Study Group accompanied by their Japanese consultants, met Nihal Fernando, Project Director of the Port City together with senior engineers and consultants at CHEC Port City Colombo head office.
Both parties had exchanged views and ideas on ways to establish access to Port City and the rest of the city via the planned LRT line.
The internal infrastructure within Colombo Port City will be designed to accommodate the LRT, with specially designed transport nodes.
Further discussion on the ongoing plans in this regard is scheduled to take place in the near future.
