Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed Law and Order Minister Sagala Rathnayake to hold area Police chiefs responsible for any attacks against minorities.

The Prime Minister’s comments come on the heels of several attacks on Muslim establishments in the past weeks.

Although the incidents received widespread condemnation on social media, the mainstream media did little to highlight the events, it was alleged.

United States Ambassador Atul Keshap too, a few days ago said any attack against places of worship were reprehensible and that he hoped the perpetrators would be brought to book.
