JVP Leader Hits Out At Cabinet Reshuffle: "Cunning Attempt To Please Some Disgruntled Politicos"

The objective of the Cabinet reshuffle is to please a small group of politicians and not to benefit the country, JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said yesterday.

"Thilak Marapona was unhappy after he had to step down from the Law and Order Ministry due to the Avant Garde controversy. He hardly attended Parliament after his resignation. He has been given a ministry with the purpose of addressing his personal grievances," Dissanayake said.

"The likes of S.B Dissanayake and John Seneviratne were not happy with their previous portfolios. They wanted more powers. They have been pampered with some ministries by the President," the JVP Leader explained.

"The SLFP finds it hard to justify their existence in the current government. This Cabinet reshuffle is a cunning attempt to address the concerns of the SLFP."

"If there are allegations against the Finance Minister and the Ports Minister, the government should hold fair inquiries into their conduct. Instead of taking stern government, this government has placed new ministries under them," he added.

"At the same time, there are many other ministers who continue in their positions, despite various allegations."

"The problems faced by the country could not be resolved through a regime change. So, how can they be resolved through a Cabinet change," the JVP Leader asked.
