A new building worth Rs. 1 billion has been donated to the Maharagama Cancer Hospital by Ahamed Afshar, the owner of Ahamed Tea. 

The state-of-the-art building is a seven story hi-tech complex with approximately 400 beds. Six of the seven floors are already functioning while the seventh floor is reportedly reserved for paying patients.

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Maharagama – also knows as the Maharagama Hospital - is the leading hospital under the Ministry of Health dedicated to the diagnosis and follow-up treatment of cancer patients
