Showery conditions will continue and heavy rainfall of up to 75 mm can be expected in some places across the island the Meteorological Department said today.

It said fairly strong winds (up to 50kmph) could be expected over the island - especially in the western slope of the central hills, while strong winds (up to 60-70kmph) could be expected in the surrounding sea areas.

Showers or thunder showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and Northwestern provinces while showers or thunder showers will occur at several places in the Uva province and in the Batticaloa district after 2.00p.m.
