A prominent Minister representing the UNP has informed the party leadership that he will become a backbencher if the government changes his ministry at the proposed Cabinet reshuffle.
The Minister also holds a senior positions in the UNP.
He has informed the President and the Prime Minister that he does not wish to handle any other ministry.
The President and the Prime Minister, however, have not given a direct reply to the Senior Cabinet Minister's demand, informed political sources said.
They added that the Cabinet reshuffle was likely to take place tomorrow at the Presidential Secretariat.
