The gazette notification relating to the government acquisition of the Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital is expected today, informed government sources said. 

 

Higher Education Minister Lakshman Kiriella said yesterday that he and Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne had already signed the document with regard to the gazette notification. 

 

The gazette notification is expected to be released today. 

 

Kiriella also added that Dr. Neville Fernando had agreed to vest the ownership of the hospital with the government without any reimbursement.

The Minister said that the SAITM institution will continue to function as a private medical college under the full supervision of the government.
