The Supreme Court today issued a stay order until May 15, on the Court of Appeals decision to disqualify Geetha Kumarasinghe as MP.
On May 3 the Court of Appeal ruled that Geetha Kumarasinghe was disqualified from being a Member of Parliament on account of her dual citizenship.
Kumarasinghe holds dual citizenship in Sri Lanka and Switzerland.
A clause in Article 91 of the recently passed 19th amendment to the Constitutions bars citizens holding citizenship in other countries from being elected to Parliament.
