Rajapaksa Wanted Meeting with Indian Premier: High Commissioner Explains MR-Modi Meeting

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa sought a meeting with visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Indian High Commissioner in Colombo Taranjit Singh Sandhu said last night. 

"Accordingly," he said, "the Indian Prime Minsister met Sri Lanka's former President and held a cordial discussion." 

A meeting with Rajapaksa was not included in Modi's agenda, before the visit. 

The discussion took place after President Sirisena's dinner for the Indian Prime minister. 

Diplomatic sources said Rajapaksa, at the meeting, commended India's continued support to Sri Lanka.
