Social Empowerment and Welfare Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake and Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) President Anuruddha Padeniya met at the Sambodhi Viharaya on Gregory’s Road in Colombo 7 last night and made peace with each other.
The two were at loggerheads over an incident in which the Deputy Minister attempted to expose the GMOA President as seeing patients at private practice, when in public he was on strike.
The Social Empowerment Deputy Minister had made an appointment with Dr. Padeniya at the Nawaloka Hospital while the GMOA was engaged in an islandwide strike.
Dr. Padeniya had rejected the claims he was seeing patients at the private hospital, blaming instead hospital administration as having unknowingly made the appointment.
Sambodhi Vihara Chief prelate Daranagama Kusala Dhamma Thera had reportedly advised the Deputy Minister to reconcile with Dr. Padeniya.
